Fascinated but still a little confused by the world of Google docs. The second video with comments by teachers and students was the most useful. One point that I particularly liked was that students took more care with their submitted work when they were aware that other students were viewing the result. I am sure there are students who find this initially daunting, but creating an atmosphere of trust and collegiality should help overcome any anxieties.
It would be great to get several students to work simultaneously on creating a plan for an essay response - one idea stimulating another. The teacher can occasionally intervene with words of encouragement, points of clarification or suggestions on new directions. A group composed response to an essay question might be very interesting.
I also really liked the idea that a teacher could more accurately assess the contributions made by each student in a group task - even without intervening in the process, it would allow a fairer distribution of marks in such a situation.
From a peer standpoint, the concept of conducting a "meeting" online so that several people can contribute to the formation of a policy, a newsletter, an assessment task or creating marking guidelines without being in the same room is interesting. Literally seeing the document in front of you whilst several people are creating and editing that document has many applications. Creating an exam paper is another possibility that comes to mind - but devising a marking scheme while three teachers are test marking sample responses springs from this same scenario.
